It is with great sadness that I wish to advise you and the citizens of New Canaan of the death of Moira Scott on January 17th 2009. We wish to thank all those who knew her for their support of Moira and her family during the years we were in New Canaan. Moira has been mentioned in a number of articles in the New Canaan Advertiser over the years while we lived in New Canaan and subsequently. Moira lived in New Canaan from February 1988 to August 1990 from the age of 2 to 5. Moira had many challenges in her life, arising from brain injury early in her gestation. During the period Moira lived in New Canaan over 100 of New Canaan citizens assisted Moira to exercise her body and mind. This help start Moira on the road to achieve as full a life as possible. These citizens, who became firm friends, also supported the family with their love, emotional support and frequent meals and other activities. Since Moira’s return to the UK Moira has lived with her family in London and subsequently in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Moira fulfilled a short but fun and loving life. During Moira’s life she has time and time again formed close loving relationships with most who knew her. We have also heard many stories of those who through their friendship with Moira have themselves benefited greatly. Moira needed assistance in everything she did, however she was also able to enjoy life to the full including such activities as the fair ground rides, horses, paragliding, yachting, cycling, swimming as well as ultimately living in her own home as a young adult, frequently visiting the local ‘English’ pub and enjoying the live music. There is a memorial website to Moira at www.moira.scott.muchloved.com All those who have known Moira or who have been influenced in some way by her are invited to contribute a memory, a thought or a picture to her memorial website. You may also download pictures for your newspapers from there. Should you wish something with greater resolution please let us know which pictures you would like. Her parents, Jill and David, would like to express their immense gratitude for all the support they have received over the years. They are humbled by the generosity of all of those people whom we are proud to call Moira’s and our friends.
